France's cancer in the Nations League continues.

Ahead of Monday's meeting with Croatia, the reigning champions had only managed to scrape together two points in the three initial rounds after crossing in the away matches against Austria and Croatia.

A points harvest they are left on after a miserable loss in the return match with Croatia at home at the Stade de France.

Croatia's big star Luka Modric scored the only goal of the match on penalties in the fifth minute.

The punishment was not well-aimed, but it was harsh.

The French goalkeeper Mike Maignan got a hand on the ball but could not really control it outside the post.

France dominated the remaining 85 minutes but even though it was close to a draw on a few occasions, there were no points this time.

Wind showed the way

For Denmark, things are all the better.

They lost to Croatia on Friday, but otherwise it has been three points.

On Monday, they defeated Austria 2-0 at home at the Park.

The big hero was Jonas Wind who put 1-0 after a real pattern attack and then played Andreas Skov Olsen to the 2-0 goal.
