25-year-old Berlanga is undefeated as a professional boxer, and when he took his 24th straight victory this weekend, it meant that he defended NABO's super middleweight title for the second time.

But most of the headlines after the match, which were decided at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden, were about an incident in the seventh round.

Berlanga then bit the Colombian opponent Alexis Angulo in the left shoulder, and then also tried to bite him in the ear.

"He threw up his elbows, so I was about to make a Mike Tyson on him," Berlanga said, according to the New York Post.

The Mike Tyson incident that Berlanga was referring to happened 25 years ago, when Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfield in the ear during a match in Las Vegas.

Tyson was washed after his bites at Holyfield, unlike Berlanga who was not punished by the referee.
