Defending champions France's hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the European Football Championship ended after losing 1-0 at home to Croatia on Monday, failing to achieve any victory in the current edition so far.

The world champion, who has lost twice and drawn twice, is bottom of the first set by two points, five behind Croatia, who won thanks to an early penalty from Luka Modric.

Denmark beat Austria to advance to the top by nine points, and France cannot reach this balance, as it faces the risk of relegation to the second level.

Denmark defeats Austria and leads

Jonas Wind scored a goal and set up another to lead Denmark to a 2-0 victory over its guest Austria in Group A in the first level of the European Nations League, to keep the hosts on top after four games at Parken Stadium.

The 23-year-old striker opened the scoring in the 21st minute and Andreas Skov-Olsen added the second with a low shot with the sole of the foot after a pass from Wend inside the penalty area nine minutes before the break.

The fans welcomed midfielder Christian Eriksen with a standing ovation after participating in the second half, a year and one day after he fell on the same stadium due to a heart problem in a group stage match in the European Championship 2020 against Finland and he almost scored with a shot in the 87th minute, but the ball crossed the goal.

The victory raised Denmark's tally to nine points, two points ahead of Croatia, and Austria is third with four points.
