Arsenal sign young Brazilian striker Marquinhos

English club Arsenal made its first deal of the season in the transfer market by signing, on Monday, young Brazilian striker Marquinhos from Sao Paulo.

The 19-year-old agreed to a "long-term" contract with the "gunners" team, which prevented him from moving to the ranks of his compatriot Wolverhampton after his initial agreement to join his ranks.

Marquinhos scored 4 goals in 41 matches for Sao Paulo and was part of the squad that won the Sao Paulo State Championship in 2021.

He also defended the colors of his country's under-17 team.

"We are happy to complete the transfer deal with Sao Paulo because Marquinhos has been a player we have been watching for a while," Arsenal's Brazilian coach Edu told the club's website.

"At 19, he is still very young, so he is a player for the future."

"We look forward to Marquinhos joining us now in preparation for the new season, moving to his new home, and continuing to grow and develop with us," he added.

Arsenal also puts Leicester City midfielder Yuri Tillmans on the list of players willing to sign, who confirmed earlier, "I will study my options in the summer and make a decision" about his future.

Tillmans' contract with Leicester runs until next year, which means that his club is seeking a sum of money for his sale this year, rather than giving him up in a free deal next summer.
