The opening of the Asian Fencing Championship in Korea... and 15 players representing the Emirates

Engineer Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the Asian Federation and President of the UAE and Arab Fencing Federations, inaugurated yesterday evening the Asian Fencing Championship in the Olympic Hall in the South Korean capital, Seoul. 

The opening ceremony was attended by Shin Wan Cho, head of the Korean Fencing Federation, a crowd of sports officials in Korea and heads of missions participating in the tournament. The opening ceremony was held amid folkloric performances that expressed the heritage of the host country and the Korean people's passion for sports.

More than 300 players from 25 Asian countries are participating in the tournament.

Our national fencing team is participating in the tournament with a delegation of 15 players, including Khalifa Al Abri and Hamed Al Mazmi "Salaat Al Saber Men", Al Anoud Al Saadi, Sheikha Al Zaabi, Zainab Al Hosani and Fajr Al Marzouki "Salaat Al Abyah Girls", Abdullah Al Hammadi and Khalifa Al Zarouni and Muhammad Al Mazmi "Silwat Al Ebih Men", and Al-Jalaf, Shehab Al-Jaabi, Abdul-Rahman Al-Hosani, Khal Al-Marzouki (Fluorite Corps for men), Noura Al-Buraiki and Al-Hayyam Al-Balushi (Floro-Girl Weapon), accompanied by the coaches of the three national teams, Osama Adel, Georgy Limnov and Munad Ghazi, as well as escorts Mahitab Wasfi, coach of the Fujairah Girls Club, Mai Al-Amri from Sharjah Women’s Club for girls.

The events are scheduled to begin with the singles competitions of the epic arm for girls and the saber for men, followed on the second day of the championship with the fluoro competitions for girls and the epian for men, and the third day is devoted to the saber competitions for girls and the fluorite for men, while the other three days are allocated to team competitions.
