After third place last year, Lindqvist is in the driver's seat for a place in Indycar 2023. Ahead of this weekend's competition at Road America, Wisconsin, the Swede leads with a full 84 points to Danish team colleague Benjamin Pedersen.

Last year's champion Kyle Kirkwood and runner-up David Malukas both took the step up in Indycar after the season.

It remains if Lundqvist has all the pieces of the puzzle required for advancement.

- If I do my thing, stay on the track and win the race, then there is a great chance that I will be in an indy car next year, says Linus to SVT.

The 23-year-old has already acquired an impressive track record with victories in the prestigious British Formula 3 series in 2016 and the American F3 series in 2020. Now Linus has the eyes of the stable managers and is a hot name in the motoring press.

Tribute by Ericsson

Indy500 winner Marcus Ericsson has seen Lundqvist develop in the USA and pays tribute to the successful Swede from Tyresö outside Stockholm.

- An incredibly exciting talent who will be very good in the future.
