• Revolution The attempt to sign Tiger Woods from Saudi LIV Golf: "The offer was amazing, huge"

A

new era in golf will begin on Thursday.

The new Saudi

-funded league

,

LIV golf

, will finally see the light of day after much controversy.

The consequences for the players who are members of the

PGA Tour or European Tour

who will take part in this initiative are unknown at this time, but a new and complicated chapter for golf is foreseen in the coming weeks.

For now we wanted to bring the

main details

of this new project closer to the general public:

rain of millions

There will be

8 different tournaments

limited to

48 players

.

Each regular tournament will have a

$25 million

prize pool to go around ($20 million for individual qualifying and five million for team qualifying).

The final, which will be the eighth tournament, will raise his purse to 50 million.

The winner of each regular event will walk away with four million and $120,000 will be the consolation for the

last classified

.

In the final, the figures will be exactly double.

In all this rain of millions, the

fixed ones

that are paid to the stars for their long-distance commitment to LIV golf are not counted.

It has been leaked that

Phil Mickelson

could earn a figure close to

200 million dollars for three years of contract

and

Dustin Johnson

around

130 million

.

Calendar

June 9-11: Centurion Golf Club - London, England

July 1-3: Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club - Portland, USA

July 29-31: Trump National Golf Club Bedminster - New Jersey, USA

September 2-4: The International - Boston, USA

September 16-18: Rich Harvest Farms - Chicago, USA

October 7-9: Stonehill Golf Club - Bangkok, Thailand

Oct 14-16: Royal Greens Golf Club - Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

October 27-30: Team Tournament, Trump National Doral, Miami, USA

Format

The tournaments will be played over

three days

(54 holes), when the normal format of the PGA and European Tour is to do it over

four days

(72 holes) and with a cut after the second day that allows only the top 60 to compete and collect.

In the LIV there will also

be no court

.

Players will compete

in team and

individual

format

.

In the team competition, the

48 players

will be distributed in twelve teams of

4 players

, each team will have a captain not yet confirmed, but it is assumed that they will be the registered players with the most weight.

Each captain will choose the three members of his own team through a kind of

draft

that will take place the same week of the tournament.

Each team will wear its own uniform, logo and image, thus each player renouncing their

image rights

and

brands

that normally sponsor them during this week.

There will be

individual and team classification

, the individual will be the player who makes the fewest shots after 54 holes and for the team classification the

two best cards of each team

will be added during the first two days (therefore two will be discarded), while on the last day the three best results of each combination will count (eliminating only the worst card).

TV

At the moment this first tournament will be offered by

streaming

through the official website

LIVGolf.com

,

Facebook and Youtube

.

The signal will be offered free of charge to any television operator that might be interested.

The LIV golf will have a production of the highest quality and in recent days some important American journalists have been known who have signed on to give voice and coverage to the project.

Spanish people

At the moment and for this first tournament

, Sergio García, Pablo Larrazábal, Adrian Otaegui

and the amateur

David Puig

have confirmed .

García is expected to be one of the captains and, although those around him have not wanted to make any statements about it, he is one of the players with the most weight within the new structure.
