In a rare and bizarre scene, a boxer appeared during a bout in South Africa, punching into the void seconds after he brought down his opponent and came close to beating him.

Boxer Simisu Buthelezi found himself lost in the last moments of his fight against Sivisheli Mentunga as part of a fight for the African lightweight boxing belt in South Africa.

The fight was heading towards the tie point after the boxers exchanged control during its periods, but in the tenth round, Buthelezi dropped his opponent towards the ropes of the ring, and, contrary to expectations, he seemed to be affected more than his opponent.

The referee was surprised by the boxer Buthelezi, as he headed to the opposite corner of the ring and punches towards the void, and it seemed as if he was wrestling with a "ghost" before the referee intervened to stop the fight and gave way to a quick intervention from the medical staff.

Press reports stated that Buthelezi was quickly transferred to the hospital and was placed in an artificial coma, and he is in a stable condition, and he will undergo further examinations in the coming days to find out the details of what happened.

The fight witnessed the first loss in Buthelezi's career, while Mentonga achieved his seventh victory and crowned the African light weight belt.
