Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, Manchester City winger, leads the vote published by the world's most famous electronic game and sponsored by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) to be its cover star next year 2023.

Each year, FIFAPlay, a site for FIFA fans, conducts an annual survey to discover players who just want to be on top of EA Sports' next game.

The next version, which will be launched between September and October of this year, will be the last that bears the name "FIFA 23", as is customary with the advent of each year of the game.

And for that you need a big name as a star for the cover.

At the moment, it seems like a lot of fans want Mahrez up front.

The Algeria captain just came out of his best scoring season, scoring 24 goals in all competitions as Man City retained the Premier League title.

In the poll, which got more than 29,000 votes, Mahrez got 35% (more than 10,000 votes).

Next is Mahrez, the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, the top scorer for Liverpool, who received 21% of the votes (more than 6 thousand votes).

The legendary duo and former cover star Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi ranked third and fourth with 3,188 votes and 1,922 votes, respectively.

While the Norwegian star Erling Haaland, Mahrez's new teammate in the "Citizens", came sixth with 855 votes, after Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich, who got 1418 votes.

French star Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain's top scorer, has been the FIFA cover star for the past two years, but the Frenchman only got 750 votes.

It should be noted that this poll will not have any effect on who will be the cover star of the latest version of the famous game under the "FIFA" logo.

The company "Electronic Arts Sports" officially announced last month, officially ending its partnership with "FIFA" to change the name of the famous game after more than 30 years.

And the company added that from July 2023, the name of the famous game will be EA Sports FC instead of FIFA.
