Samuel Eto'o, the former Cameroonian football star and head of the local Football Association, does not hide his ambition for the 2022 World Cup, and believes that the "Untamed Lions" are no less important than the major teams.

"We are going to Qatar to win," Eto'o said - in statements carried by the official website of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) - "Things must change, we will enter every match with the aim of winning, what others have done is not magic," referring to Cameroon's ability to compete. The major candidates for the title.

"We have players here like Zambo Anguisa and Onana, and they are among the best in the world. Why don't we think about the dream of being crowned? I want us to dream humbly, but we have to dream because you are the best," added Eto'o, who was speaking to the Cameroon national team players.

"All we do is for Doha, we will dream like others. The history of the World Cup will be written in another way. Others are good, but they also consider us the best."

Cameroon is preparing to participate in the World Cup for the eighth time in its history, and their best performance was in the 1990 edition in Italy, when it was the first African team to reach the quarter-finals.

Eto'o believes that coach Rigobert Song has everything it takes to achieve the best in the World Cup in Qatar. "Song and I played 4 World Cups for each of us and we know the problems of this team. He has all my support."

Cameroon will compete in the 2022 World Cup in Group G alongside Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland, and will play the first match on November 24 against Switzerland, at the South Stadium.
