Raducanu had a couple of fantastic months last year.

First, the 19-year-old went to the round of 16 at Wimbledon and then she won the US Open as a qualifier and wrote tennis history - no one had managed that feat before.

Since then, things have been sluggish.

For example, she only reached the second round of both the Australian Open and the French Open.

In the important pre-tournament on grass in Nottingham came a new setback during the day.

At the position 3-4 and a break against him against the Swiss Viktorija Golubic injured Raducanu and was forced to break the match.

"It's so bizarre"

- It happened already in the first game, it's so bizarre.

It felt like something was broken, do not really know what happened, Raducanu told Reuters about the injury that sat next to the ribs.

She was asked if she would have time to recover for Wimbledon, which starts on June 27.

- I have no idea, says Raducanu who despite weak results after the title in the US Open holds eleventh place in the world rankings.

Wimbledon has, contrary to the WTA and ATP, decided to port Belarusian and Russian players and thus been deprived of ranking points.
