Thanks to Youssoufa Moukoko's two goals, Germany's U21 national team achieved a perfect conclusion to the European Championship qualification with the longed-for revenge against Poland.

Four days after Antonio Di Salvo's team secured their European Championship ticket by beating Hungary 4-0, they won 2-1 (1-1) in Poland on Tuesday and got revenge for the 4-0 loss in the first leg.

In an intense and hard-fought game in front of 11,732 spectators in Lodz, striker Moukoko scored both goals for the youth team of the German Football Association (25th/85th minute).

For him it was goals five and six in the fourth U21 game.

The strong Bartosz Bialek from VfL Wolfsburg scored for the hosts to make it 1-1 (35th).

The defending champion had already secured qualification for the European Championship and victory in the group.

With the game in Poland, Di Salvo and his team began preparing for the finals.

In June 2023, Germany wants to play another successful tournament in Georgia and Romania after three finals in a row and two titles.

Tests against the top nations will follow in autumn.

"The team said in the first leg that they had an unfinished business," Di Salvo said before the game, recalling the 4-0 loss to Poland in November.

It was the only defeat of the U21s under head coach Di Salvo and in this European Championship qualifier.

The desire for revenge in the lively initial phase was clearly noticeable in the German selection.

The Poles, who were fighting for second place in the group in the long-distance duel with Israel, played aggressively and had the first significant chance (11th).

The DFB team had some voting problems.

Di Salvo had mainly reorganized his eleven offensively, due to suspensions, injuries and breaks for some players who were under a lot of pressure.

In the middle of the first half it was Moukoko again who took the lead and continued to increase his goalscoring rate.

The 17-year-old from Borussia Dortmund benefited from a mistake by Poland.

The hosts remained dangerous and managed to equalize through Bialek.

Germany made too many simple mistakes in the build-up, Poland had more play and could have taken the lead.

Michal Skoras missed the best chance with a crossbar hit (53rd).

In the intense game, both teams had chances for the winning goal.

Another goal by Moukoko was disallowed because of a handball (79').

Six minutes later, the striker scored to make it 2-1.
