The blow is hard for Wuilker Farinez.

The Venezuelan international, substitute goalkeeper for RC Lens behind Jean-Louis Leca last season, is suffering from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments in his left knee, the Venezuelan football federation announced on Monday.

Farinez crashed during training ahead of a friendly match against Saudi Arabia on Thursday in Murcia, Spain.

Additional examinations confirmed the seriousness of the injury.

He should be gone for several months.

Tipped to take the place of holder

The 24-year-old goalkeeper, who played 13 games for Lens during the 2021-2022 season, was tipped to take the starting spot next season in Ligue 1 after alternating with 36-year-old Jean-Louis Leca during of the second half of the season.
