Ukrainian newspaper: Al Ain extends Rebrov's contract for a season

Al-Ain club management renewed the contract of Ukrainian coach Sergey Rebrov for one season, according to the Ukrainian newspaper, "Tribona".

The newspaper quoted Yekhaylo Spivakovsky, a close associate of Rebrov, as saying that "the coach will remain in the UAE league after he extended his contract with Al Ain for another season."

He added, "They wrote that the Ukrainian national team needs Rebrov, and this will not be, he ended the controversy and extended his contract with Al Ain for one year."

Al-Ain club management sought to keep the Ukrainian coach in his position, after the great shift he made during his career in technical leadership, and Rebrov returned the "leader" to the podiums last season by winning the ADNOC Professional League title and the Professional Cup.

Al Ain had finished last season in sixth place in the standings, to be absent from participating in the AFC Champions League, but with the arrival of Rebrov the situation changed, and under his leadership, Al Ain performed a performance that deserved the league title, which finished 10 points behind runner-up Sharjah.

Rebrov did not decide the decision to extend his contract before he traveled to his country, asking for a period of time to think to resolve the matter, whether to renew the contract or reject it after receiving many offers.

On more than one occasion, the Ukrainian national team seemed interested in Rebrov's services, especially at the beginning of last season, but Al-Ain stuck to the coach's services and refused to dispense with his services.

And rumors circulated again to confirm that Rebrov would be a candidate to lead his country if it reached the Qatar World Cup 2022, but the Ukrainian team lost to Wales with a goal unanswered in the last European qualifying supplement for the World Cup.
