The International Youth Soccer Tournament under the name of Heung-Min Son, the top scorer in the English Premier League, will open on the afternoon of the 8th in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do.
The '2022 Son Heung-min International Youth Friendly Soccer Tournament' will be held for four days at Son's hometown, Son Heung-min Sports Park in Chuncheon.
Son Heung-Min Sports Park is operated by Son Soccer Academy, and was prepared to expand the base of youth soccer at home and abroad.
Teams from 6 countries, including Korea, Colombia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Singapore, and Indonesia, will participate, and over 100 players including the coach and players under the age of 12 will compete.
The competition consists of a team of 8 people, and the 6 teams participating in the game compete with each other once, and the ranking is not determined as it is a friendly game.
The opening ceremony will be held on the 8th at 7 pm at the Chuncheon City Hall Plaza in the presence of Sohn's father, Sohn Football Academy coach Son Woong-jeong.
Son is unable to attend due to the soccer team match schedule, so he plans to replace it with a congratulatory video message at the opening ceremony.
A Chuncheon city official said on the 5th, "We expect that Chuncheon, the hometown that produced world-famous soccer star Son Heung-min, is a soccer city and will serve as an opportunity for young people to develop their dreams of soccer."
