What is the European Silver League:

It is an annual national team tournament organized by the European Volleyball Association since 2018. All European national teams except those that play in the higher ranked FIVB Volleyball Nations League or European Golden League.

The winner qualifies for play in the European Golden League next season.

Sweden surprisingly won the Silver League 2018 after a final victory against Austria with 3-1 in sets, then with the then 18-year-old Isabelle Haak in the team.

In 2019, they participated in the Golden League and left.

In 2020, the tournaments were not played and last year Sweden chose not to play due to the upcoming European Championship in Romania.

The success in the European Championships, where Sweden's women's national team qualified for the first time in 38 years and went all the way to the quarterfinals, meant that Sweden is now directly qualified for the European Championships 2023. A tournament that will also be broadcast live on SVT.

The national team captain about Sweden's fixed star Isabelle Haak:

- No one can deny that it is good to have a world-class right-hander, but there are many other players who have good qualities.

One thing that Bella does well is that in addition to being a world player, she is also a team player.

She has played many tough matches and her presence will help us.

Having a Swedish player at that level, it is clear that it is inspiring, says national team captain Lauri Hakala.
