Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has nominated the new coach of his team, Eric Ten Hag, to lead the team to win championships next season, explaining the need to give the Dutch coach enough time to make the changes required to make the team an effective force.

Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions for United last season and was the only highlight during a disappointing season for a team that failed to qualify for the Champions League after finishing sixth at the end of the Premier League season.

Ten Hag will coach United, succeeding German interim coach Ralf Rangnick, after he spent 3 seasons at the head of the technical staff of Ajax Amsterdam, during which he led the Dutch capital team to win the Dutch league title 3 times and the Dutch Cup twice.

And in a video recording published by the English club today, Friday, Ronaldo addressed United, saying, "I know he did a great job with Ajax, and I know that he is a coach with great experience, but we have to give him the time necessary to achieve the change in his own way... So I wish him all the best and success."

"We are happy and excited, not only at the level of the players, but also the fans, and I wish him every success. Let us be confident that we will win trophies next season," the veteran Portuguese star added.

Ronaldo's departure from United

There was much speculation about the future of Ronaldo, 37, after United failed to win any title last season with his return to his former team after an absence of 12 years, but the Portugal national team player confirmed that he is happy in Manchester.

Ronaldo added, "I felt so happy to be back at the club that boosted my career. So coming back gave me a great feeling. I was and still am very happy to be back at the club."

"The most important thing for me is to try to win games and win some trophies, but I think Manchester will come back to where it belongs. Sometimes it takes time but I trust that so far," he said.

"I am confident that Manchester United will return to its normal position" 🔴🗣️@Cristiano 👊
