The proportion of women who are coaches in senior and youth football at the levels up to division 3 men and division 2 women, (UEFA B license) is low, this according to SvFF and Marabou who did the survey as part of the initiative Tränarlyftet where they work to increase the number of female leaders in football.

At present, there are 64 women with the license, which corresponds to six percent, and 981 men.

In addition, it was a woman who in 2021 attended the training to get the license.

"Think it's crucial"

It has also looked at the statistics of registered players from 2021 and seen that, compared to boys of the same age, 14 percent more girls aged 13-16 drop out, and three times more girls aged 16-20 (21 percent compared to boys 8).

One of the reasons why more girls quit is believed to be the lack of female coaches.

- A lot has changed for the better during my football years, but a recurring theme is the lack of female representation in football, which I think would contribute to more girls playing longer.

Creating more female role models I think is crucial to pave the way for tomorrow's female football players, says Stina Blackstenius, front figure for the initiative, in a press release.
