Instead of playing in the WNBA with the Los Angeles Sparks, Amanda Zahui is in Södertälje.

When Sparks presented the squad for this year's season, the 28-year-old Swede was not present.

The reason?

The playoffs with her Turkish club Fenerbahce.

- I have been suspended this year due to the playoffs in Turkey.

I would not have time in time for the first match so the coach simply chose to go with the players who were already in place.

But they still own my contract and they still own my rights, says Amanda Zahui when SVT Sport meets her in Södertälje.

Can you play for another club this summer?

- No, I'm not allowed to play for any team this summer.

Do you get paid?

- No.

Zahui is especially disappointed with the club's lack of communication in connection with the news.

- I was on the phone with my agent and the WNBA union and then we got an email, and then I saw it on Twitter two minutes before the deadline, she says and continues:

- I felt extremely bad and I was very sad.

Mostly because there was no communication.

Finding out that you should not play and live your dream during the summer on social media hurts quite a bit.

How do you see the future?

- Now I take this rest, it is my first free summer since I was 13 years old.

I take a few weeks where I do not play basketball but focus on my mental health and recovery.
