The English Professional Players Association has revealed the shortlist for the award for the best player for the 2021-2022 season.

Manchester City won the league title in the end season after a fierce competition with Liverpool that lasted until the final stages of the competition.

The official website of the association revealed the shortlist of 6 players in the category of best player of the season.

The list includes:

  • Belgian Kevin De Bruyne: Manchester City player and award winner last season.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo: Manchester United

  • Egyptian Mohamed Salah: Liverpool

  • Senegalese Sadio Mane: Liverpool

  • Dutchman Virgil van Dijk: Liverpool

  • Harry Kane: Tottenham

Phil Foden (Manchester City), Conor Gallagher (Crystal Palace), Reece James (Chelsea), Jacob Ramsey (Aston Villa), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) and Emile Smith will compete for the Young Player of the Season award.

It was striking and shocking at the same time, the absence of South Korean star Heung-Min Son, the top scorer for Tottenham and the top scorer in the Premier League, with 23 goals, not including any penalty kick.
