Mesut Ozil, the former German football star, revealed his position on his Turkish team, Fenerbahce, after not participating in any matches since last March.

The club said in a statement that it suspended Ozil in March and did not reveal the reason for his decision, but local media reported that the midfielder was involved in a verbal altercation with team coach Ismail Kartal.

Ozil said on his Twitter account last night, "I completed my goal of my career by signing a contract for 3 and a half years with Fenerbahce, my childhood love, without even getting my wages in the first 6 months."

He added, "I repeat with emphasis: I will not end my career in a team other than Fenerbahce. Throughout my contract, my only goal is to make every effort to defend the colors of the Fenerbahce shirt. This decision is very clear and final."

And the former Arsenal star continued, "If the club's management makes a decision about me, I will respect it. I will work hard and will always be fully prepared. As I always say, the main thing is Fenerbahce."

Ozil joined Fenerbahce from Arsenal in January 2021, after signing a contract for 3 and a half years, after losing his place in the London club's squad and not entering the team's list in the English Premier League or the European League.

Ozil, who won the 2014 World Cup with Germany, played a crucial role under coach Arsene Wenger in ending Arsenal's absence from titles, by winning the FA Cup in his first season.

But Ozil found himself estranged from Unai Emery's plans to replace Wenger and then Michael Arteta, causing his eventual departure.
