Patricia Strenius, who finished fourth at the Olympics in Tokyo, is again European champion in weightlifting.

The 32-year-old managed 94 kilos in jerks, only to gain 130 kilos in shock, three kilos less than her Swedish record of 133 kilos.

That was enough for gold in shock and in total.

Strenius also took gold during the European Championships in Bucharest 2018 and bronze at the European Championships in Batumi 2019. From the World Cup 2021 in Uzbekistan, the Swede got two bronzes.

Weightlifting is decided in the sub-steps jerk and shock.

Jerk means that you pull the bar from the ground to straight arms above the head in one go, while shock is performed in two steps - where you first turn the barbell from the ground to the shoulders and then push the bar up to straight arms above the head.
