The riders want to invest in their own set-up - and their own coaches.

But are riders' individual approaches so sensitive that it can be a "disadvantage" to adapt to national team activities?

- Had it been one, yes maybe, but now it is three.

Almost half of the national team chooses to step down, says Mathias Fredriksson.

He continues:

- You want the national team to be the place where the best resources are available.

Medical support, sports support and help.

Physio, sparring ... it SHOULD be the obvious environment to develop best in. But apparently it is not at the moment.

It's alarming.

"Got to know it via Expressen"

What are the disadvantages of being outside the national team?

- It's a mech.

You can book your own trips, camps.

It is a lot of logistics and it takes a lot.

It was not taken care of by itself.

Fredriksson chose a season to say no to the national team place due to the fact that the training camps at the time did not correspond to his expectations.

- Then it was cheap home camps.

Then the union wanted to join me anyway without me joining the camps, and I said yes.

But then they withdrew their offer and I found out via Expressen.

So in a way it was the same as now, nothing seems to have changed in fifteen years.

"Not good for me"

According to Fredriksson, it was not advantageous to then be outside the blue-yellow organization.

- It was messy.

Then I started my own team and took some of the riders from the national team with me.

It was not good for me.

It became more of a prestige thing, sportingly it was not good.

They just wanted to do it.

In a competitive situation, the decision to stand outside can also affect the competition, but Karlsson, Dahlqvist and Svahn should not be affected, he explains.

- Sweden needs the best riders on the starting line.

These three should be given.

But if it is a borderline case, then I probably think that those who have been in the training group have an advantage.
