After seven wins in a row at home in the NHL playoffs, many in Raleigh, North Carolina, probably thought it was just a matter of booking the semifinal tickets.

The city's pride had the advantage of home ice in the last quarter-final match, when they hosted the New York Rangers at PNC Arena with the score 3-3 in matches.

- We are a young group and we have a lot of trust in each other.

Maybe we're a little naive.

We do not want our season to end.

We want to go in with that mentality and it has worked for us, says Rangers Adam Fox after the match.

Zibanejad forward

For a winning streak must end sometime, and the Rangers players showed early in the match that they would like to be the team that put a stop to Carolina.

The match was just over three minutes old when Fox scored the first goal in powerplay.

It was followed up four minutes later by another powerplay goal.

Mika Zibanejad fired a direct shot at goal, which was guided in by Chris Kreider.

Ryan Strome extended to 3-0 in the second, and early in the third, Kreider was in front again.

Zibanejad was responsible for a break on his own half of the field, played Frank Vatrano who with an excellent pass found a rushing Kreider ..

In the eighth minute of the third period, Carolina gave the home crowd some hope, when Vincent Trocheck reduced.

But the joy lasted only 40 seconds before Filip Chytil gave the guests a four-goal lead again.

Russian goalkeeper match awaits

Before the match was over, each team managed to get another goal each.

Zibanejad was noted for his third assist of the evening - the twelfth of the playoffs - when Andrew Copp scored the 6-2 goal in the open box.

For Rangers - who with the match on Tuesday night, Swedish time, turned a 1-3 deficit in matches to victory but 4-3 - now the reigning champions in Tampa Bay are waiting.

The last time New York was in the semifinals was in 2015. The goal was then Henrik Lundqvist.

He wrote on Twitter that he is looking forward to the upcoming goalkeeping match between New York's Igor Shestiorkin and Tampa's Andrei Vasilevsky.

"Christmas came early this year for all the goalkeeper fans out there," writes the Swede.
