Chinanews client, Beijing, May 31. On May 30, local time, the Premier League Chelsea Football Club officially announced that a consortium led by American investor Todd Polly has officially completed the acquisition of Chelsea Football Club.

According to previous reports, the total sale price of the transaction is 4.25 billion pounds.

"We are honoured to be the new custodians of Chelsea Football Club and we give 100 per cent every minute of every game," said Burley. "As owners, our vision is clear: we want to make our fans proud."

The decision to sell Chelsea was made in early March by former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, who was sanctioned by the British government following the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Abramovich said at the time he believed it was in the best interests of the club, fans, staff and the club's sponsors and partners.

Abramovich, 56, became owner of Chelsea in 2003 and has invested heavily in building the team.

After Abramovich took over, Chelsea has been among the top football clubs in Europe for the past 20 years, winning a number of laurels including the Champions League and the Premier League.

With the completion of the transaction, Chelsea's "Abramovich era" officially ended.
