Musimani responds to Al-Ahly fans: "The best team lost!"

South African Al-Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane responded to the team's fans' angry criticism of the Moroccan club's 2-0 defeat to Wydad in the African Champions League final, Monday, stressing that the teams that lost were the best, from his point of view!

Musimani said in a press conference after the match, which was reported by the Egyptian media: "The best team today is the one who lost, and when you play in a neutral ground and an equal audience between the two teams, then we talk about winning and losing, and I think that everyone behind this decision feels happy today."

He continued, "Some people ask me about the formation and the plan because I lost, but I remind them that Al-Ahly won over Raja with the same formation. Everyone knows that Al-Sulayya is injured, so we did not push it from the beginning."

He added: "Football depends on scoring goals, Percy Tau missed an opportunity, and so did Mohamed Sherif.

" Al-Ahly coach asked, "I don't know how anyone talks about the good organization of the African Champions League final, I think that only Moroccans see that."

He continued: "I have no problem with the referee except in wasting time, especially in the second half, and the referee should have kept the time. The referee himself replaced his watch in 3 minutes, and the goalkeeper fell to the ground several times and wasted more than 3 minutes." .

And he concluded: “In addition to the ball collectors on the field who lost a lot of time while returning the ball, and this happened because Al-Ahly is playing the match on the opponent’s court, and for this it was natural for Wydad to win amid all these circumstances.”

Musimani's statement comes after the outrage of the Al-Ahly fans, who criticized the performance of their team in the final and considered that his loss was deserved, compared to the modest technical performance that appeared on him.
