Club boss Fernando Carro from Bayer Leverkusen is demanding that the German Football League increase revenues from foreign marketing, but does not initially see the Bundesliga clubs as having any obligation to deliver.

"We urgently and significantly have to increase the proceeds, which are currently bobbing at less than 200 million euros, if we want to continue playing in the concert of the big leagues in Europe," said Carro of the German Press Agency.

“Everyone has to pull together.

As clubs with international standards, we have to ensure that (DFL boss) Donata Hopfen has good arguments when she speaks to foreign TV partners," said Carro: "This includes more excitement in the league, successes in European competitions and that all clubs are trying to establish a presence in key international markets to make the league more visible and stronger.”

With the trip to Mexico in May, Bayer “recently made a contribution.

Preparations are underway for another trip abroad in the fall.”

Carro did not want to judge whether the series of FC Bayern Munich, who recently won the German championship ten times in a row, can soon be broken.

"Someone will eventually succeed in breaking Bayern's streak," he said. "I hope it will happen as soon as possible.

And I hope we will be.

We work hard for that.”
