The news that Frida Karlsson and Maja Dahlqvist follow Linn Svahn and leave the national team for their own investment against the WC in Planica next year shocked ski-Sweden.

It also opens up the possibility of a new German-Swedish collaboration.

At the beginning of May, the news came that Per Nilsson, Frida Karlsson's personal coach in Sollefteå for many years, will be the coach of the German women's national team.

- They (Frida Karlsson and Maja Dahlqvist) are welcome to come down and train with the Germans if they want, says Mia Karlsson.

"Completely free"

Mia Karlsson says that the thoughts have existed since Per Nilsson's new job became known, but that after Monday's break it has become more concrete:

- Now they are completely free to make their own arrangement that suits them.

But they probably have not had time to make a plan because on Monday morning they had the ambition to be part of the Swedish national team.

This would mean that the Swedish ski stars get high-class sparring.

In the Winter Olympics in Beijing, Germany's Katharina Henning and Victoria Carl won gold in the sprint relay, and in the traditional relay it was silver, which also included Sofie Krehl and Katherine Sauerbrey in the team.

Painted black

It is clear that the trust between the breakaway riders and the national team management is damaged.

Karlsson and Dahlqvist are not least disappointed with how the ski association communicated the news on Monday night.

According to Mia Karlsson, they feel "painted black".

- It was their (Frida Karlsson and Maja Dahlqvist) opinion when they read the press release, which they received two minutes before it went out.

Mia Karlsson and continues:

- They did not even have time to go out to their partners and to their teammates in the national team with this, but it was just printed as a press release.

They could have done it together with the union, but that did not happen.

But they are not enemies with their ski buddies.

According to Mia Karlsson, there is a risk that the disappointment with the national team management will last for a long time.

- The advantage is that they do not have to deal with each other so much for a few months.

Right now it's about them having to land in this situation.

Now the three are standing outside.

They will surely be a bit connected, answers Mia Karlsson, who refers to Linn Svahn who is the third skier outside the national team.
