Real Madrid and Liverpool .. Courtois announces his readiness to tackle and carry out penalty kicks

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will not be afraid to take a penalty kick against Liverpool, if his team needs him in the Champions League final in Paris, today, Saturday.

Courtois has a rich balance in countering penalty kicks or penalty shootouts. He stopped three out of five kicks he faced this season, including one for Argentine Lionel Messi, the best player in the world seven times, while facing Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the 16th round of the continental competition.

It was a decisive moment, as Real came from behind against Saint-Germain to win 3-2 on aggregate.

Courtois, who previously defended the colors of Chelsea club before joining Real Madrid, said that he would do his duty between the woods in the Liverpool meeting, and added that he was ready to take penalty kicks or penalty shootouts if he was asked to do so. "I remember in the preparations for the season with Chelsea against Paris Saint-Germain. I scored a kick, and in the Community Shield against Arsenal I missed another."

And the Belgian international goalkeeper continued: "Conte (his former coach at Chelsea) put me there because he knows my ability to take kicks well, but it seems that standing on that point, at an important moment, looks different."

And the distinguished goalkeeper added, "Of course I will not be among the first five (shooting penalties if the match between Real and Liverpool reaches the penalty shootout), but maybe after that, if you need to shoot, you should shoot. I'm not afraid of that. It's a moment for you to shine."

And the 30-year-old added, "We won a share (penalty kicks) against Atletico Madrid in the Super Cup years ago when a kick was saved. This season I saved three."

Real Madrid is looking to consolidate its record of 13 titles in the Champions League, while Liverpool wants to win the cup for the seventh time.
