The fact that the controversial Russian ski base Jelena Välbes ran for re-election to Fi's board and highest decision-making body has attracted much attention.

But when Congress voted on the matter, she received the least number of votes of any candidate.

In the same vote, the Swedish delegate Mats Årje gained new confidence.

In addition, the Swede Johan Eliasch was re-elected as Fis chairman.

Jelena Välbe has recently expressed support for the Russian war and pointed out the Ukrainian inhabitants as Nazis.

According to Norwegian NRK, she has said the following to the Russian site Championat:

- It is clear that Nazism should not exist as it does, but now Pandora's box is open.

Some of these people will flee to Europe and it is not about poor refugees in any way - they will show their true selves.

At the same congress, which was held in Milan, the decision was made that the International Ski Federation (Fis) would change its name to the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.

Something that will not affect the abbreviation Fis, which will be the same despite the name change.
