• The Fise is back until Sunday, in Montpellier, after two editions canceled because of the Covid-19.

  • For Thomas, spectator and amateur BMX competitor at Fise, “everyone is 'chill' here, there is a great atmosphere.

Gathering around the same passion is always great”.

  • “What we needed was to find each other.

Friends on rollerblades, on BMX, on scooters... We're a big family!

“says Simon Uguen, the announcer of Fise.

Two years after the last back flip (a back somersault in BMX), the Fise, the International Festival of Extreme Sports, is back, until Sunday, in Montpellier (Hérault).

After a pandemic that forced riders to put their knee pads on the shelf, the world-class event is getting its revenge, where it all began 25 years ago.

Did you miss the Fise?

20 Minutes

went for a walk on the banks of the Lez on Wednesday to take the temperature.

Cindy is there "every year, practically," she says.

And he had “completely” missed the event.

For the love of extreme sports, of course.

But also “because it's super festive, above all!

she laughs.

Thomas, he is more than a faithful spectator of the Fise.

He also participates in an amateur BMX competition.

“Without the Fise, it was hard for two years!

Everyone is "chill", here, there is a great atmosphere.

Gathering around the same passion is always great.

"And then, it's free!"

Bastien, he competed for five years as an athlete.

And he even worked on the event, before becoming a simple spectator again.

“I prefer to drink an aperitif, we had to make a choice!

he smiles.

Le Fise, we “find our colleagues there, who come from all over France, rejoices the young man, leaning on his BMX.

For five days, it's a real capital here.

This is indeed an opportunity for Cindy to find "all our friends" who share this love of urban disciplines.

"And then, it's free!"

Melvin is happy, too, in the alleys of Fise.

“I'm Breton, and I watched the event for three or four years on television, before coming to Montpellier to attend it, he confides.

It's impressive, even in training.

And after the Covid-19, it feels good to meet again.

Amateurs and pros side by side

It's not just extreme sports enthusiasts who were eager to find the Fise.

The staff, too, was eager to hit the skateparks again.

“What we needed was to find each other.

The riders, the roller buddies, the BMX buddies, the scooter buddies... We're one big family!

“says Simon Uguen, Fise speaker, and founder of the YouTube channel Immersion Freestyle.

“When we are together, it is a huge pleasure.

And without the Fise, it was impossible to get together.

“It feels good to find this atmosphere again, continues this BMX madman.

When I picked up my microphone, my heart ached… I said to myself: "That's it, here we go again!"

»

Especially since at Fise, in Montpellier, there is a very special osmosis between professionals and enthusiasts, which does not exist in other competitions.

“There are the greatest athletes in the world, amateurs, children, etc., says Simon Uguen.

It's beautiful, because amateurs can meet the greatest, on this event.

It's as if a young footballer was alongside Zizou, what!
