The Ballon d'Or gala for the best player in the world will be held on October 17

France Football magazine reported today, Tuesday, that the Ballon d'Or award ceremony for the best football player in the world will be held on October 17.

The prestigious award will now be awarded on a regular season basis from August through July of the following year rather than on a single calendar year basis.

France Football said that the names of the candidates will be announced on August 12.

The concert will take place in October at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

Lionel Messi, who led Argentina to the 2021 Copa America title, won the Ballon d'Or for the seventh time last season, consolidating a record and surpassing Robert Lewandowski and Jorginho.
