Stina Nilsson missed the national team's pre-season camp in Crete, Greece, in mid-May due to corona.

Last week she started with lighter training and according to the national team's coach, Johannes Lukas, she will soon be back in full swing.

- She has a small individual approach now but it is nothing special, it is usually like that for those who have been ill.

You have to train in a different way to get back to the group training, but there are no strange things, says Johannes Lukas.

"Complicated for her"

It has been two years since Stina Nilsson ended her long-distance career and now she is charging for her third season as a biathlete.

After initially putting a lot of focus on shooting, she will this year go more and more towards training as a "real biathlete", says Lukas.

- It will be more as a whole for her.

Now we can have much more specific biathlon sessions that will help her even more in getting routine in fast movements on the dike.

It was complicated for her last year too but we have seen that she learns things all the time and I am sure she will be able to train more as a biathlete this year.

Roller Biathlon World Cup in August

What does it mean to train more as a biathlete?

- There will be much more comb shooting.

That you really have a clear plan when it comes to intervals and technique and tactics in the track.

At the same time, we will get the shooter with all the pieces in a great way on the dike.

There can be ten steps happening at the same time, so for a beginner it is very much to keep track of and very complicated.

The national team will train at home in Sweden during the first summer months.

After that, most of the national team squad goes to the roller biathlon world championships in Ruhpolding and immediately after that, high-altitude camps in Antholz await.

- We have never participated in a roller biathlon WC and it will also be a motivation for the active, to try something new and compete more in the summer, says Lukas.
