Mbappe reveals the team he will support in the Champions League final

France striker Kylian Mbappe said he "can imagine" Real Madrid's frustration after he rejected an offer from the Spanish champions and extended his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, and confirmed that he would support Real in the Champions League final against Liverpool next Saturday.

Mbappe was a strong candidate to move to Real Madrid after the end of his contract next month, but he announced the extension of his contract on Saturday until 2025.

The Spanish League reacted angrily to the announcement of the contract extension, and said that it would file a complaint against Paris Saint-Germain with the European Football Association (UEFA), and said that this new offer "infringed the economic stability" of European football.

Real had made an offer to sign Mbappe last year, but Saint-Germain rejected it.

Mbappe thanked Real Madrid and its president Florentino Perez for showing interest in obtaining his services.

"I am aware of the opportunity and privilege I had when I was the target of such an establishment. I can only imagine their disappointment," Mbappe wrote on Twitter.

"I will be their biggest fan in the Champions League final in Paris in my country," he added.

Mbappe, who has scored 39 goals and provided 26 assists for his teammates with Paris Saint-Germain in all competitions this season, said he could "continue to develop" at the French capital club.

"I am convinced that I can continue to develop here in a club that provides itself with all the means to reach the top... I am very happy that I am able to continue to develop in France," he added.

The 23-year-old is scheduled to hold a press conference, along with Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, later on Monday.
