Liverpool signs Fulham winger for a small amount

Liverpool announced on Monday that it had reached an agreement to sign Fulham winger Fabio Carvalho this summer.

British reports said Liverpool paid five million pounds ($6.29 million) plus some extras for the 19-year-old after failing to sign him in January.

Carvalho, who also occupies the attacking midfield position, scored 10 goals and assisted eight assists to help Fulham win the second division title and return to the top flight.

"Liverpool FC can confirm that Fabio Carvalho will join the club this summer," Liverpool said in a statement. "The 19-year-old striker will complete the transfer formalities on 1 July."

The young Carvalho has previously represented the England youth team, but he is currently playing with the Portugal under-21 team.

Liverpool finished the Premier League in second place, one point behind champion Manchester City.

This season, Liverpool won the League Cup and the FA Cup and will face Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday.
