Klopp: Losing the league title motivates Liverpool more against Real Madrid

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp said losing the Premier League title on the last day of the season gives his team an extra incentive ahead of the Champions League final.

Liverpool came from behind to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 at Anfield on Sunday, but Manchester City also rose up to turn from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against Aston Villa to retain the league title.

Liverpool, who have already won the League Cup and the FA Cup this season, are looking to add a seventh title to their Champions League record when they meet Real Madrid on Saturday.

"This season is absolutely amazing and it's not going to end today, and obviously it's going to end next week, we have five days to prepare for the final and that's what we'll do," Klopp told reporters.

The German coach congratulated City and coach Pep Guardiola for winning the title for the fourth time in five years.

"I'm proud but I'm disappointed of course, there are worse scenarios, if you're ahead by a point and you don't take advantage of that, it looks worse.

"Congratulations to Manchester City, Guardiola, all the staff, the players and the entire club, our team was close but not close enough."

Liverpool will meet the Spanish champions in Paris in a repeat of the 2018 Champions League final in Kyiv, when Real won 3-1.
