After scandals raised by 6 women, Mendy denies all charges

Manchester City's full-back, French international Benjamin Mendy has denied nine charges of sexual assault and raping six young women, while appearing in court on Monday.

The 27-year-old, who has been suspended by his club since last August, stood in the dock at Chester Crown Court and repeated "not guilty" as he was charged and petitioned for the first time.

The Frenchman has denied seven counts of rape, one count of sexual assault and one count of attempted rape, involving six women who filed complaints against him.

He will appear before a jury on July 25, along with his co-defendant, Luis Saha Matori, 40, who has also pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Mendy joined Manchester City from Monaco in 2017, and played 75 matches with him, but he suffered from a decline in his form and several injuries.

The full-back played 10 matches with the France national team, the last of which was in November 2019, knowing that he was crowned with the "Rooster" in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
