The City star defeats the Liverpool player and wins the award for the best player in England

Manchester City international striker Phil Foden was named the Premier League's Young Player of the Year today.

Foden played a key role in City's eager campaign to preserve its league title, as it leads by a point over Liverpool before the final stage on Sunday.

The 21-year-old, who has 9 goals and 5 assists, told the Blue Club website, "I am proud to win the award for the second season in a row. There are many talented players in the Premier League this season and I am honored to be crowned again."

"I was really happy with my performance this season, it's great to contribute to this team and I hope it will be another successful season."

In a prize that the fans voted for, Foden was ahead of Liverpool back Trent Alexander-Arnold, Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, Arsenal duo Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Sacco and Crystal Palace duo Conor Gallagher and Tyrick Mitchell.
