Chess is a compulsory subject in Georgian schools

The Georgian Ministry of Education has included "chess" as one of the compulsory subjects in schools starting next year.

Russia Today reported that the Georgian Ministry of Education took the decision to develop analytical, logical and critical thinking and practical problem-solving skills for schoolchildren.

She explained that the Georgian Ministry of Education began planning to organize courses next summer to prepare and train the cadre required to be ready to teach students "chess" at the beginning of the next academic year for the first, second and third primary grades.
