When Didier Deschamps, coach of the Blues, publishes his list this Thursday, May 19 for the matches of the Champions League, Amnesty International France sends an open letter to the players of the French team, asking them to take a position on the question. migrant workers in Qatar.

Amnesty International France also published today a new report on the working conditions of migrants in Qatar, a few months before the World Cup.

It clearly establishes FIFA's responsibilities, and calls for the establishment of a comprehensive reparations programme.

"

Your talent is worth gold, your word must weigh

"

“

You are the best team in the world

(at least until November),

and you will certainly prove it once again during this 2022 World Cup, in Qatar.

You will enter into legend, if as reigning world champions, you help us to defend and support migrant people working in undignified conditions in Qatar, and without whom this World Cup would never have been possible.

Your talent is worth gold, your word must weigh just as much

”, writes Amnesty International France.

The organization challenges the players of the France team: "

Exhaustion, illness, unbearable heat: it is impossible to know the number of deaths - probably thousands - on the construction sites of the stadiums and infrastructures which will be used next winter to the big football party.

They work in construction, hotels, restaurants, for security agencies or as taxi drivers.

In Qatar, you will probably come across these migrant workers in your hotel or when traveling between stadiums and other training places

.

(…)

Dear Blues, we ask you to commit to showing solidarity with these migrants, by putting pressure on the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the French Federation (FFF).

As did your Danish colleagues, whom you will meet on June 3, in a match considered a dress rehearsal before the World Cup
