Barcelona striker Aubameyang ends his international career
The current Barcelona and former Arsenal striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, decided to end his career with the Gabonese national team, according to the latter's French coach, Patrice Nouveau, told AFP in information also confirmed by the local federation of the game.
"In an official letter to the Gabonese Football Federation, he announced his retirement from international football," Nouveau said.
"After 13 years of proudly representing my country, I announce the end of my international career," Aubameyang wrote in the letter to his country's federation. "I would like to thank the people of Gabon and everyone who has supported me through good times and bad."
The Gabonese Federation praised the "tremendous march" of the 32-year-old who "promoted, thanks to his professionalism, the image of Gabon in the world".
Aubameyang defended the colors of Gabon for 13 years, during which he played 72 matches and scored 30 goals.
The Gabonese joined Barcelona in early February after being released from his contract with Arsenal due to his problems with coach Mikel Arteta.
He made a great start with the Catalan giants, scoring 13 goals since his arrival.
