Iga Swiatek continues to play successful tennis in her own league a week before the start of the French Open.

The world number one secured the title at the WTA tournament in Rome with her 28th win in a row.

In the final, the Pole defeated the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, who had previously won in Madrid, 6-2, 6-2 after 82 minutes.

For Swiatek it was the fifth title in a row.

The 20-year-old, who took over the top spot after Australian Ashleigh Barty retired, has been the dominant player on the tour for weeks.

After victories in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami and Stuttgart, she took a break in Madrid - and now triumphed in Rome without losing a set.

Swiatek is the big favorite for the second Grand Slam tournament of the year in Paris (live on Eurosport from May 22nd), in Roland Garros she won her only major title so far in 2020.

However, Swiatek still has a long way to go to set the women's record: In 1984, Martina Navratilova went unbeaten for 74 matches in a row.

In 1989 and 1990, Steffi Graf racked up 66 victories before she was stopped by Monica Seles in the final in Berlin.
