A number of athletes denounced the scenes of the Israeli occupation forces assaulting the funeral of Shireen Abu Akleh, Al-Jazeera correspondent in Jerusalem.

The cameras documented scenes of the occupation forces attacking with sticks the mourners of Abu Aqila's funeral, which led to the displacement of the coffin, in an attempt to break up the funeral.

"The Zionist entity does not care about the world, it carried out its crime and killed Shireen Abu Aqleh on the air, and it hits those who mourn her body also on the air," the former Egyptian football star, Mohamed Abu Trika, said in a tweet.

The Zionist entity does not care about the world, it carried out its crime and killed Shireen Abu Aqleh on the air, and it hits those who mourn her body also on the air.. By God, we are not lying when we say this Zionist entity is the cancer of the world and it must be eliminated and we will see it soon, God willing.

Abu Trika was not satisfied with the tweet, as he criticized the double standards of Europeans in dealing with global issues - especially the Palestinian issue - during the analytical studio of "beIN Sports" channels for the Liverpool and Chelsea match in the FA Cup final yesterday, Saturday.

Abu Trika commented on the appearance of the Ukrainian flag with the players before the match, with the word "peace" written on it, saying, "There is a flag for Palestine as well, not just Ukraine. Are you black over Russia and mice in front of the Zionist entity (Israel)?"

He said about Sherine Abu Aqleh, "A person named Sherine died, was assassinated, and there is a young man named Thaer (Al-Yazuri) who is 17 or 18 years old. Are you calling for human rights or are you hypocrites?"

The word is over with you, by God, Trika....

For his part, former England striker Gary Lineker said in another tweet, commenting on a video clip of the attack on the coffin bearers of Abu Akila, "Oh my God, this is terrible."

Good heavens.

This is awful.

As for the world champion in Egyptian squash, Mohamed El-Shorbagy, wrote a strongly-worded tweet in which he said, "Is there an end to this cruelty? Is there respect for the dead? Will anyone speak out against this brutality? Just imagine the Western uproar if Russia does that."

Is there a limit to this cruelty.

Is there any respect for the dead??

Will anybody speak up against this brutality?!!?

just imagine the western uproar if Russia did this.
