Tomorrow, Tre Kronor presents the preliminary World Cup squad.

One who will not be there is the former Skellefteå forward Jonatan Berggren, who last season played with Detroit's grandfather team in the AHL: Grand Rapids Griffins.

Would miss at least five days

The reason is that Berggren, who played Beijer Hockey Games last week, tested positive for covid-19.

The rules say that he must be quarantined for five days, and then show two negative tests to be allowed to join the World Cup.

- To miss five days of training in this situation is far from optimal, and because of that and the uncertainty about upcoming tests, we have chosen to move on with other players to the World Cup squad, says national team captain Johan Garpenlöv in a statement on Tre Kronor's Twitter -account.

Sweden starts the World Cup on Saturday, against Austria.
