Liverpool's hopes of competing for the English Premier League title were dealt a strong blow, after their 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday in the 36th round of the Premier League.

Liverpool advanced to the top of the league with 83 points from 35 games, one goal behind defending champion and second-placed Manchester City, who played 34 games and will face Newcastle United on Sunday.

Son Heung-min advanced with a goal for Tottenham in the 56th minute, before Luis Diaz equalized with a shot that changed direction a quarter of an hour before the end.

On the other hand, Tottenham raised its score to 62 points in fifth place, one point behind fourth-placed Arsenal, which plays tomorrow with Leeds United.
