Just four months later, it's time for the winner to try to defend the title - then in the provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
The International Ice Hockey Federation, IIHF, decided earlier this year to withdraw from Russia JVM 2023 due to the invasion of Ukraine.
“These are two fantastic cities with high quality arenas and passionate hockey fans who support junior hockey.
I commend the Canadian Ice Hockey Federation for finding two fantastic hosts in such a short time and I look forward to the Junior World Championship 2023 ", says the federation's chairman Luc Tardif in a press release.
