Ukraine has long had a good business in parasport and has had great success in the Paralympics.

In Beijing in March, Ukraine came second in the medal league, after China, with eleven gold, ten silver and eight bronze - despite problems with getting both active and their equipment on time to Beijing in time after Russia's invasion of the country on 24 February.

Due to the war, the Ukrainian parasport has lost its funding and is now seeking help from international donors.

- We are a leader in parasport, but right now I fear that parasport in Ukraine will die, says Suskevich.

- The world's best parade athletes do not know if they will be able to continue with the sport.

Parasport's training center in western Ukraine has become a refugee camp, including a number of parade athletes and coaches with families.

Sushkevich hopes that parasport can survive, especially given the well-being of the future of the Ukrainians who are injured during the war and forced to be amputated.
