How are integration and exclusion reflected in the sports world?

In SVT's documentary series, we get a close meeting with Jonas Morin.

He is chairman and youth coach of Huddinge Basket and has worked with inclusion issues for the past 20 years.

- When I first became a youth coach and came into the hall, then I fell in love with the whole environment.

Children came in with different conditions.

And I saw it as my mission to turn it into something that thinks, he says.

His commitment is very much rooted in the injustices he himself has seen as a player and leader.

And Morin believes that the lack of parental involvement also contributes to sports leaders having to take more responsibility.

- We have boys' training when children start playing basketball at the age of five.

And they continue to play until the age of 20.

But I've never met their parents.

And then you have to accept that it's just like that, he says and further develops that the charm itself is to get everyone involved.

- Otherwise, I think you have failed.

"Take down the guard"

You need a vibrant association life and a fun environment to get to.

And that is what Huddinge Basket is trying to succeed with.

But exclusion places demands on harder work with inclusion.

And even if progress is made, it is still an uphill climb.

- Five percent of the girls are members of an association in Vårby.

95 out of 100 are not in a sport.

Those are scary numbers.

Morin points to factors that can be decisive - factors that can also be obstacles.

- If we look more closely at it, associations can be in certain areas, perhaps a little more affluent areas because it is easier to attract members who can afford to pay.

But I think you should have the same opportunity to choose your sport no matter where you live.

He points to the fear of the unknown.

And means that it is about ignorance.

- You should take down that guard and instead be curious about each other by meeting and talking to people from other cultures.

We have a lot to learn from each other.

And that's how you should look at it.

After many years in the role of leader, he sees his assignment as something obvious.

- Sport is the best tool for us to get closer to each other.

There we can pair people from all over the world in a common forum.

The documentary series The Sky and Hell of Sports examines and sheds light on problems that both those who play sports and those who lead sports are faced with.
