Since February, Brittney Griner has been detained in Russia.

She was arrested at an airport and is suspected of having illegal drugs in her bag.

There have been many cries for her release.

CNN now reports that the US government has engaged SPEHA (US Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs), which works to free "wrongfully detained people abroad, to bring Griner home.

"Will talk to everyone"

SPEHA is led by retired elite soldier Roger D.Carstens.

"He will go everywhere, he will talk to everyone who is required, if it means being able to bring an American home and reunite that American with her family," spokesman Ned Price told CNN.

Griner will also be honored in the American League WNBA during the season.

Her initials and number (42) will be on the floor in all twelve arenas.

"We have Brittney in mind," said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert in a statement.
