The contract with 46-year-old Ryabykin is designed for one year and can be extended if the goal for the season is achieved, the press service of the Omsk club reports.
“The choice of head coaches on the market was not so great.
Having worked through several options, we came to the conclusion that Dmitry Ryabykin's candidacy is currently optimal," said Avangard general manager Alexei Volkov.
Ryabykin replaced Bob Hartley as Avangard head coach.
Prior to that, he worked as an assistant to a Canadian specialist.
